K18™ Leave-In Molecular Repair Mask

K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Mask is a leave-in treatment mask for all hair types that clinically reverses damage in 4 minutes. I'm loving using it in the salon on a number of clients and the enhancement of their natural texture (damaged hair from foils, and hair that is otherwise a very soft curl that doesn't hold well normally) is clearly visible.

WHY K18?
If you have put your curls through any damaging treatments including bleach, foils, lightening, heat damage, chemical damage, or mechanical damage, you will have broken keratin chains and bonds inside the cortex of your hair strands. Keratin chains are responsible for your hair's core strength and elasticity.

HOW DOES THE K18 MASK WORK?
How it works is a lot like makeup vs. skincare. Concealers temporarily cover up a problem. K18 works like retinol, highly concentrated, working on a deeper level to renew that base health so you can wear less concealer in the future.

K18 Mask's 'K18PEPTIDE'™ works at the innermost layer of hair, reconnecting polypeptide chains and disulfide bonds broken during bleaching, chemical services, and through heat damage.

By addressing these damage sites at the innermost layer of hair, core strength and elasticity are renewed for strong, smooth, bouncy hair—even after the most extreme damage done in the salon or at home.

IS THIS CURLY GIRL METHOD COMPATIBLE?
With the inclusion of Alcohol Denat and Isopropyl Alcohol in the ingredients list, this would not be considered a Curly Girl Method compatible product. It also requires that you use a lathering shampoo to prepare the hair environment to receive the Mask, by opening up the cuticle. This would also make it incompatible if you follow the Curly Girl Method and do not wish to deter from it.

HOWEVER, it is a recommended product in the Cut It Kinky process wherever there is damage in the hair.

It is also used and recommended by many leading curl specialists and curl specialist educators. The alcohols function to open up the hair cuticle so the K18PEPTIDE™ can penetrate the innermost layer of hair, reaching the broken polypeptide chains (keratin chains). Basically the alcohol serves as an agent to optimise the hair environment for K18 mask to work on a deeper level and give you the best results.

HOW K18 DIFFERS FROM OTHER TREATMENTS
Until now, haircare products have fallen into two categories: conditioning treatments that coat hair, bringing temporary and comparatively superficial hydration and sheen, or repair treatments that work to patch damage like internal glue, offering temporary results. K18 Mask works at the molecular level, providing immediate and progressive results.

HOW TO USE:
Shampoo.
Towel-dry thoroughly.
Do not use conditioner (there is an optional 'yet'...).
Begin with 1 pump of K18 mask and add more as needed depending on length, thickness, and condition. Work evenly into hair from ends to roots, one pump at a time, maximum dosage is 3 pumps.
Let sit for 4 minutes.
Do not rinse out.
Style as usual (fine to add conditioner or styling product now).
Use for the first 4-6 washes, then as needed.

WHY NOT USE CONDITIONER BEFORE THE MASK?
Conditioner leaves a film on the cuticle that blocks the K18 Mask's peptide from penetrating into the innermost layers effectively. Once the 4-minute wait time is up, feel free to re-wet your hair to use a conditioner, or a leave-in conditioner, or any styling product of your choice.

WHERE DOES CONDITIONER FIT INTO MY ROUTINE THEN???
You don’t have to rinse K18. But if your routine calls for rewetting hair, go for it! Just wait 4 minutes for lasting damage repair, no matter what happens next.

Up to 50 doses per 50ml bottle.
